I am a licensed midwife in Washington State and a NARM certified professional midwife. I live in Bothell, Washington with my husband Damon. We have 4 young adult children and a little boy born in 2007. As long as I can remember I have had a strong interest in pregnancy, childbirth and babies. After the birth of my twins in 1992, I heard the call to midwifery and attended Seattle Midwifery School. I graduated in December of 1999. A great way to start a new Millennium! I practiced for 5 years and returned in 2012 renewed and inspired after a hiatus that included having a baby and running an in-home daycare.
As I head into my mid-forties I am honored to teach others what I have learned in my mothering years about natural birth, midwifery, baby care, parenting and alternative education.
In my midwifery practice I have learned great respect for women and their ability to birth their babies in their own way in their own time. I see my job as maintaining a balance between offering assistance, monitoring, and supporting, while allowing the process of birth to unfold with little outside interference (from me or anyone else). A woman moving about in her own surroundings with her husband/partner as involved as she desires and given true privacy tends to birth quite naturally most of the time. I feel truly blessed to once again be in the presence of birthing families and the women who assist them.
