Cindi Thompson was our midwife. Let me expand on that huge statement, Cindi was the queen of all midwives! During my entire pregnancy, she was there for me. Each office visit was an unrushed hour or more full of helpful advice on everything from lifestyle, nutrition, medical choices and emotional counseling – all of which she is skilled at providing in an absolutely non judgemental manner. She was available by phone anytime I had a question, and was always able to offer multiple avenues of choice for any health decision that came up. Cindi embodies what I consider to be the perfect medical provider.
She is knowledgeable, experienced, aware of current scientific studies and information; while being down to earth and spiritual all at the same time. She is simply human in the best way possible. As a woman experiencing my first and long awaited pregnancy, I really craved a sort of friendship with the person who would assist me to bring a baby into the world. A sterile and unfeeling office with some OB was not what I had in mind during this journey of becoming a mother. I am so grateful I found Cindi.
My husband and I chose to have a home birth at our place, which is a bit remote. There was a rare and unexpected complication during the delivery of our son in which he was stuck under my pelvic bone. Thanks to Cindi’s skills, confidence and abilities, she saved his life. Our child was delivered and Cindi revived him. Her ability to remain calm, give directions, use her skills and act quickly saved us both. I feel that having her assist me in the most intense moment of my life was the best decision I ever made.
Pregnancy and labor are hard, having a practitioner able to help you through it and be able to deal with unforeseen issues is incredibly valuable. Now as I write this, I’m looking at my perfectly healthy 4 month old and feeling grateful for faith in myself that I could do a natural home birth, grateful for the precious gift of my son and very, very grateful for the skilled midwife who helped and encouraged us throughout the entire journey.
