I am a wife and mother of 6 children ages 20, 16, 15, 13, 9, and 4. My family lives in Lynnwood with our Goldendoodle Marvin, and beloved Persian cat Trebek. (It’s always a party at the Wilsons!) We enjoy playing games together, camping, hiking, and movie nights.
From the beginning of my first pregnancy in 1999 I had a profound curiosity about pregnancy, labor, and birth. I was an adolescent mom with a thirst for information. The birth of my first daughter was everything I had hoped for, and it ignited my passion for birth. The birth of my second daughter was much like the first; an empowering and unique event of its own. My pregnancy with my third daughter in 2009, opened my eyes to ALL of the available choices in our local area. I had visited a friend in New Orleans who told me that she was seeing a Midwife for her pregnancy. I’ll admit… when I heard the word “midwife” all that came to my mind was a backyard farm birth. However, once I discovered that I was pregnant, I searched midwives in my area. I was amazed in the new options and locations I had to give birth! I chose to have my third daughter at a free standing birth center. Shortly following the birth of my third daughter I became a volunteer childbirth educator for The Pregnancy Resource Center in Everett. I took Birth Doula training at the Seattle Midwifery School, and attended my first birth during my training. I have been serving our community as a birth doula for over 10 years at Puget Sound Doulas.
In 2014 I gave birth in the comfort of my own home. This pregnancy was challenging, and put me in the position to exercise informed choice and weigh out risks. This experience was empowering, unique, and lit my fire to pursue midwifery. I learned through this process what it meant to have CHOICES, which reinforced my dedication to making sure every family I work with is always aware of their choices.
I am a graduate from the Midwives College of Utah. I am nationally certified through NARM, and waiting for my license to activate in Washington.
I was gifted this thriving practice in 2018 when my previous partner and preceptor retired. It took me several months to find the right fit, and I found that fit with Kate Richmond. I trust Kate deeply, and asked her to be my official business partner in 2019 after working together for 3/4 of 2018. I could do this work alone as a solo midwife, but I truly feel clients are best served with two sets of professional ears, two different life/work experiences, and the guarantee of one fully rested midwife (maybe even two)!
As of 2019 I have attended 590 births. I have supported birth in all of the King/Snohomish County hospitals and free standing birth centers as a birth doula. I have a strong passion for VBAC families, and those with past birth/life trauma.
I can't wait to meet you, and hear all about your hopes & dreams for birth.
